Re-imagine Mx - Things to be doing...

 Things to be doing...

Mah cualli tonalli! Ndalí! Greetings!

Thanks for your patience. We waited until the group was fully formed to send you more information about the trip. You are one of the courageous twelve adventurous souls ready to embark on this pilgrimage. We salute you!

We will be having a preparation Zoom session on the 26th at 7 pm.  Here’s the link:

Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86140647523?pwd=TF7k9nwHfd5ITFMoe64yn01B3IXHX0.1

Meeting ID: 861 4064 7523

Passcode: 724665

Since we don’t want to overwhelm you with too much information (maybe it is already too late for that!), for now, we want to focus on the basic logistics and things that you can start doing right away.

Remnant payment:

  • Please make the second deposit ($1,000 or $1,250) via PayPal by May 30th at the latest
  • The third deposit is due on June 15th ($1,000 or 1,250) via PayPal as well.
    • The PayPal link is PayPal.me/sergiomft
    • The email sergioptx@protonmail.com
    • Please choose “send money to a friend” and send without protection to avoid unnecessary PayPal fees.
  • You’ll exchange the final US $1,000 for Mexican Pesos and give it to Sergio when we get there (it is usually better to change the money when you get to the airport, but it is your choice)

As soon as possible, please provide us with:

  • A photograph. Do not worry; any photo or selfie would do. :0)
  • Contact info (best email and cell phone to reach you) and passport number
  • One emergency contact person (name, phone, email, relationship)
  • A short bio (think brief introduction check-in) to share with the group
  • An extended bio (for our eyes only). Here is where you tell the type of things that would be important for us as your guides to know. Some points to cover:
    • Your prior experience with books, particularly with the holy children.
    • Any known difficulties that you tend to have with them (especially if you have a history of abuse or trauma that could get triggered, and we need to be prepared.)
    • Do not hesitate to add whatever you think is valuable for us to know.
  • All accommodations are double rooms, so you’ll be sharing with another group member.
  • Please keep in mind that, particularly in Huautla, accommodations are somewhat rustic and basic. That is part of the adventure!
  • Specific food requirements. We’ll be eating in restaurants, and vegetarianism is not as available in Mexico, particularly in Huautla. However, we can guarantee that there’s always going to be an option (we are vegetarian and have never starved) :0)

Things to do in the meantime:

  • At this point, your main priority is to book your flights! Ensure that your arrival flight in Mexico City is to the Benito Juarez (MEX) airport!
  • Ideally, arrive by 4:30 p.m. at the latest on the 4th since we have dinner plans that day, and you won’t want to miss them! Depending on traffic, it may take you up to an hour to get to the hotel.
  • For your return flight, we suggest you leave from Oaxaca City (as opposed to Mexico City, Toluca, or Puebla unless you are an adventurer and want to continue your trip).
  • Just FYI, We’ll be in Mexico already, so we won’t be flying in on the 4th. We’ll meet you at the hotel
  • If you feel inclined, it might not be a bad idea to stay a few extra days in Oaxaca. It is a beautiful place with lots of things to do. We can connect you with Claudia (the Travel Agent), who can support you.
  • Once you have your flight information, please send us the details.
  • Make sure that your phone has Mexico coverage. (We strongly suggest that you get it if you don’t have it.)
  • Consider getting traveler insurance for the duration of the trip.
  • Make additional travel arrangements.
    • The fee covers hotels from the night of the 4th (Mexico City) to the night of the 12th (Oaxaca)
    • If you plan to arrive earlier in Mexico City or leave later from Oaxaca, you’ll need to make direct arrangements with the hotels (or Claudia). Here are the hotels' contact details:
    • In Mexico City: Hotel Marlowe Centro Historico
    • In Oaxaca City: Hotel Parador del Dominico (it is very unlikely that you’ll be able to extend your stay at the Dominico; it is in high demand)
  • Keep reading “Aztec” and sharpen your Spanish skills!

Please do not hesitate to contact us (email is the best way) if you have any questions or need answers!

Sergio, Eva and Sarah

Please let us know if you got this message and if any of the links above don’t work.
